Appearance

Any sample provided is to be seen as a guide and not a guarantee of the final products appearance.
Due to the nature of concretes manufacturing, curing and finishing processes, each item produced will be unique and individual in appearance. Efforts will be made to produce continuity for items of a single project or multiple order (all looking of the same batch). Variations in product appearance and colour, hairline cracking or crazing, flecking, pitting, dappling and texture are considered to be part of the natural beauty of the material and are not seen as defects.
Slurry filling of voids or bubbles is normal. In situations where efflorescence has occurred and is not wanted, efforts will be made to remove the mineral deposits.

The use of sealers to protect the surface does not constitute a guarantee that the surface will not stain/etch or allow liquids to penetrate.

Sealers are used to help prevent staining and liquid penetration by providing  time to clean away staining material. It is the client’s responsibility to remain diligent in the removal of possible stain causing or penetrating substances.
Bleach is not recommended to clean on our sealers. It is also recommended that worktops are resealed periodically in proportion to usage, wear and tear.

Payment

Payment terms for products require a 50% non-returnable deposit at the time of order. Final payment of the remaining 50% is to be made (and cleared) on or prior to the date of delivery, and satisfactory installation. Payment in cash is possible with prior agreement.

Interest of no more than 10% APR of the total unpaid amount may be added to the bill at the beginning of each month after the lapsed payment date.

In case of failure to make payment in full, Solid State Concrete reserves the right to cancel our warranty.

Templating and fitting

Deposits must be paid and cleared prior to templating.

All surface areas in need of templating should be cleared, have clear surrounding access, be of sound construction and at the proposed final height of the surface.
It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that all specific details such as size of overhangs, angles, positions of knock-outs for hobs, sinks, taps etc. are clearly understood by a representative on site and are reflected in the position and construction of units/carcasses on site. The provision of accurate drawings prior to templating is highly recommended.

Manufacturer’s templates or specific dimensions for all knock-outs are to be provided at the time of templating.

Unskilled assistance may be required subject to the project.

Duration for templating varies according to the project, it is the client’s responsibility to ensure the site remains open until templating is completed.

Site access

Parking (or parking permits) to be provided on or close to site where required. Standard local parking or congestion fees are to be met by the client if applicable.

Microcement

The same payment terms apply to microcement projects, a 50% deposit is required at least 2 weeks before start date, to ensure materials  imported from Spain arrive within time of the agreed start date. No start date will be set until a deposit is received.

Prior to commencement of works a site survey must be organised to assess the quality of all substrates. If there are faults in the preparation of the substrate I reserve the right to cancel or postpone the job until its correctly prepared. If the works are cancelled by myself I will refund the deposit minus the costs incurred for the procurement of materials, and site visits that have taken place. I will be available to advise on any preparation work and how best to carry out the work, to provide the best solution for the application of microcement.

The work site must be completely cleared of dust and works of other trades within the areas where our works will take place. Any air born dust will damage the finished effect of the microcement and sealants used for the finish.

It is advised that microcement works take place towards the end of the overall build, preferably before the decorating work starts. If for any reason this is not possible, the microcement floors must be protected in accordance with my advice, after the 2 week curing period. Floors must be protected with non-marking fabric, and topped with 6mm hardboard, taped together. Solid State Concrete will not take any responsibility for damage that occurs whilst further building works take place on a finished microcement area. Any repair work will be charged for in full.

Maintenance of microcement

Microcement floors are not solid concrete and must be cared for and treated in a similar way to a wooden floor. It is possible to dent a micro cement floor. Sharp objects when dropped can puncture the sealant of a floor or kitchen top, leaving them prone staining. To avoid this, I recommend buying some sealer (that I can provide) to touch up such areas. There are also cleaning products available from my stock to use to clean and maintain the microcement. If you require any further information please contact isaac@solidstateconcrete.co.nz.
